The Setup

Toby was not a one-shot wunderkind; by the time Beem existed he had already spent nearly a decade tinkering, from a Raspberry Pi at age seven to side projects and a first startup around age twelve.

School never really fit, so he poured energy into building an “AI native computer” that could handle admin like finding files and managing calendars, then used his own bedroom setup as the demo while still living in West London.

The Mechanism

He turned his age into a distribution engine: a crisp narrative of “16-year-old from a London bedroom building an AI interface for computers” made for viral LinkedIn posts, TV segments, and YouTube interviews that repeatedly told the same simple story.

Instead of paying for reach he worked with a PR firm to systematically place that story in mainstream and tech outlets to support his O-1A visa, which doubled as free top-of-funnel and social proof for investors.

By the time he spoke with South Park Commons he had a working product plus a media trail, so the check was not just for the demo; it was for a founder who had already shown he could make people care about what he was building.
